Holidays within Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and or even Myanmar with all of the unique surprises, amazing things to see and to do which for most of us could be a challenging and a life changing experience. However, to travel more comfortable to these amazing region you’ll need to know some essential things such as what to pack before you go, here I am sharing my own experience that helps you travel better, its all about fun, gaining new experience and some of you would love to go back to Indochina and experience our experience.
However, South-East of Asia and mainly Indochina peninsula is home to some of the best and idyllic beaches in Asia (If not in the world) some of the best diving sites and the snorkeling places also could be find here, cultural town, interesting activities and beyond all, you’ll travel through some destinations in South East of Asia that allow you to learn and gain a new experience.
No matter if Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and or Myanmar is in your bucket list. Trust me, you are going to travel through the sub-tropical climates and mosquitoes are surrounding you all the time, these little fly love new comers the reason is because you got a better blood to them, so, try to carry a mosquito repellent to keep yourself safe. I would suggest you to get vaccinate as well if you are a long term travelers and specially if you haven’t been to the region before. Malaria tablets are not really required, but to travel to the remote lands you’ll need some essential medical list such as diarrhea tablets (just in case you eat strange foods).
Pack light and travel easier
When I first traveled to Thailand, I packed all my clothes, jeans and trousers with me and to be honest it was more than difficult to carry my back-pack, and the hot and humid weather makes it even worst to move around. However, I tell you this, pack light and you will be able to buy cheap cotton trousers that is more than enough for you to travel around. South East of Asia is home to a large numbers if temples and pagodas meaning you will be visiting some of them for sure, so, this cotton made trousers (known as Ali Baba Style), is what you need, because to enter the temples you’ll have to cover your leg and shoulder otherwise you’ll not get permission to enter. In Cambodia and specially when visiting Angkor Wat temples you need to wear decent, this is the same when going to some temples in Myanmar. In Vietnam you’ll need to cover your legs, shoulder and wear proper when visiting the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi, so, pack light and get some of those Comfortable, light trousers.
Pack a comfortable pair of shoes or trainers
You may get a pair flip-flops may sounds cheap and easy to walk around, however, to walk for whole day you might think of packing a pair of comfortable sport shoes (I myself do this), this is more comfortable that flip-flops for walking the distances and you can wear them pretty much on anywhere you are going. Also, if you are going to do some rock climb including your activities on Halong Bay cruise , or willing to join a trekking in Northern Laos then you might be thinking of having a good walking shoes that support your ankle.
Wait! You’ll need a Powerful sunscreen
You know you are traveling through the hot and humid countries and In addition to Lightweight, light-coloured clothing to reflect the beating sun, sometimes (you cant avoid), you need to walk under the blazing sun, so, pack a good sunscreen with high UV to protect your skin from the sunburn. In addition, you may need a good cooling spray, you can buy them when you are here, they are cheap and easy to find them on any convenient store.
