Bac Ha Sunday Market & Hmong Royal Palace 1 day tour

Bac ha Market Nestled in the northern hills of Vietnam exists one of the best ethnic markets in all of Southeast Asia! On Sundays, the ethnic minorities from the surrounding villages and hills come by foot, by motorscooter, by horse, and by water buffalow for their chance to socialize, eat, drink, smoke, get a haircut, and buy produce and meat for the next week. It is a blur of colorful plaids and stripes.

Full itinerary

Day tour Sapa - Bac Ha market

7am: Pick up customer from Sapa Town. It takes 3 hour driving to Bac Ha market.

At the market you will also meet Flower Hmong (Red Hmong), Black Dao, Tay, Nung, La Chi, Phu La and other tribal groups who come from far and wide to buy and sell a wide variety of goods and livestock, to exchange news and to renew friendships. In the past the market was a centre for trading horses but now that motorbikes have replaced them it is more common to see buffalo, cows, goats, fish and other.

Continue the trip to Hoang A Tuong Royal Palace. Lunch at local restaurant.

Trek to Ban Pho village of the Flower H’Mong people, to see their house, the daily life, understand little more about their lifestyle and traditional customs. Especially, we can try homemade wine from corn. Drive back to Sapa, 110 km in about 3 hours ride. En-route, stop to see Trung Do village of the Tay people (if time permits).
