Phnom Penh: the name can’t help but conjure up an image of the exotic. The glimmering spires of the Royal Palace, the fluttering saffron of the monks’ robes and the luscious location on the banks of the mighty Mekong – this is the Asia many daydream about from afar. (Lonely Planet)
Full itinerary
In the morning, pick up at your hotel, we start to visit Silver Pagoda, located in the Royal Palace compound where is reserved by Cambodians and appreciated by visitors as one of the most popular cultural spots in Phnom Penh. Spend your next visit to the nearby National Museum, homed to art collections, statues all over the period of times on displays. Lunch at local restaurant.
Afternoon, we visit to the harrowing genocide museum at Tuol Sleng and the Killing Fields of Choeng Ek, both enduring memorials to the gruesome and brutal rule of the Khmer Rouge.
Dinner not included and stay overnight at hotel.
In the morning, head out to the ChoeungEk Memorial, where a stupa made up of some 8,000 human skulls marks the site of the infamous Killing Fields. This was the execution ground for the torture victims of TuolSleng and standing in this peaceful setting it's almost unthinkable to imagine that to date nearly 9000 corpses have been exhumed from the area. Confront Cambodia's tragic past on a guided tour of the TuolSleng Genocide Museum, a former school which served as a Khmer Rouge torture center. It's estimated that more than 20,000 people were held and tortured here.
Stop in at Central Markets and back to hotel.
